Kayley walked to the Black Lake on a cool Sunday morning. She grabbed some toast and bacon from the Great Hall before walking down to the lake, she didn't want to speak to the people that she normally ate her meals with because she wanted to get done with the rest of her Astronomy star chart. She sat under a tree that was right next to the lake and started to work and eat. She saw the giant squid and threw it a piece of her toast and grinned at it. She always thought nature was so beautiful as well as the animals.
She finished her star chart after half an hour and put it in her bag. She leaned against the tree and finished her meal while looking at the beautiful lake. It looked so beautiful and natural, she felt so tiny to the world around her in comparison. She sighed happily and couldn't seem to take her eyes off of the water. Then suddenly she herd foot steps behind her, she turned around to see who it was..

A tall, slim silhouette strolled along the banks of the Lake, paying not much attention to the many people mucking around, reading or doing other things nearby. Usually Pansy would be surrounded by her own various friends, Laughing and flirt with the hansom boys, But today was a dull one, she was alone which wasn't often, but was greatly welcomed by Pansy as sometimes her friends, enjoyable as they were, became all too much. Closing her hazel green eyes she let out a deep sigh. Thoughts ran through her head, she wondered about what next year had planned for her. Pansy wondered about the loyalty she had, she questioned herself. When will she stop the mind-games and flirting, and actually connect with someone? Instead of just flirting and staying away? She never wanted to be too close to anyone or she would get chucked in the trash heap again like she did with Draco. Pansy kicked a stick into the lake and watched as it floated away. She frowned and looked up at the sky, she did not find interest in clouds, or anything simple, Instead, Pansy longed for excitement, and dangerous journeys, and battles. Though it often did not show on her face she was bored by trivial circumstances. She tugged her jacket closer to her body as the wind blew against her. She froze in her tracks, as if she suddenly remembered something. No, she had only seen her Owl fly over and head to the Owlery, Empty-Clawed. Pansy walked further on and saw a girl alone by a tree at the black lake and she wandered over for no real reason she knew; Pansy walked absent mindedly and almost triped over the girl. Pansy was in such a daze she barely relised what she was saying when she appologised "Oh sorry" she suttered, which was very unlike her.

Kayley looked up when a girl tripped; she tried to help her and frantically kept saying, "I'm so sorry" over and over again. Even though it wasn't her fault at all, she still felt bad. Kayley looked at the girl and smiled at her, she was very pretty. "Hi, I'm Kayley" She said brightly. She held out her hand and kicked her bag closer to her with her other foot, just incase it was the reason why this girl tripped.

Pansy sneered slightly when she noticed the girl properly for the first time and sneared. But the girl was being nice? to her. No one was nice to Pansy Parkinson; they feared her or worshiped her. This girl clearly had no idea who she was, and oddly, Pansy sorta liked that. She sat down beneath the tree a little way from the girl. "Hello Kayley" Pansy said darkly "I'm Pansy" she added as an after thought, nodding in Kayleys direction. Pansy wasnt one to make conversation or be nice to strangers, even her sitting here was unusual behaviour.

Kayley smiled at the girl, she wasn't going to be mean to her, even though this girl seemed like she could be a huge bitch. Kayley doesn't like to base people on how they treat others; if they're nice to her, she'll be nice back. "It's nice to meet you Pansy" Kayley said after she noticed Pansy was a little taken aback at Kayley not knowing who she was.
Kayley looked at the lake and leaned up against a tree with her arms crossed. She only talked to Ravenclaws, Gryffindors, and Hufflepuffs. She had no reason to talk to Slytherins. The only Slytherin she actually knew by name was Draco Malfoy because he made such of an ass of himself. But now that she thought of it, she had herd "Miss Parkinson" being called. Maybe it was during one of their classes? Kayley racked her brains trying to remember who Pansy was and where she had seen her before.

Pansy sat quitely looking over the lake before opening her school bag and hunting out a compact to touch up her make up. Pansy never considered herself vain or arrogent but she didnt feel confident if she looked what was perfect in her opinion, not a hair could be out of place. Pansy looked up, she had honestly never met a girl like Kayley nice to meet you was something Pansy was only used to at her mothers dinner parties when her parents set her up with guys they deamed appropriate, though it was usually Draco which Pansy was happy about though Draco wasnt too thrilled, though mostly Purebloods had arranged marrages; for status not love. Pansy thought for a few moments "You know, its kinda nice to meet you too" Pansy said with a little shrug. She never smiled. Only those girlish giggles infront of her friends and little band of followers.

Kayley saw Pansy putting make up on. Kayley herself had already had her make up on and her hair straightened. "You know, you don't need to wear make up, you're pretty enough" Kayley said smiling. She pushed her bangs back and fixed her skirt again. It was a habit of hers, she played with her clothing a lot while she was sitting down.
When Pansy said it was nice to meet her two Kayley smiled slightly. She didn't know what to say; Kayley was a nerd and Pansy seemed to be popular. Kayley was popular with the guys, yes. She was with Cho Changs group of friends sometimes, when she wasn't crying of course. Kayley mostly hung out with boys and had her fair share of boyfriends in her past. But she was looking for more of a fling than a real relationship.

Pansy was slightly taken aback again, no one had ever said she didnt need makeup on "You know your the first person to ever say that to me, your very sweet" Pansy said honestly though her voice could be taken as slightly patronising as if talking to a child, but she didnt mean anything by it, it was just the way she was. Pansy was very stuck in her ways and it was the same as her mother and her grandmother, and every female generation of her family.
Pansy squinted with her head tilted at Kayley for a moment after putting the compact away "Do I know you? what year are you in?" Pansy asked looking at the other girl for a few long moments, she seemed familier but Pansy never remembered names and faces unless they were her friends, enemy's, or a guy she enjoyed flirting with. Kayley was more than likely non of those categories.

"No problem, its the truth" Kayley said happily. She was starting to like Pansy, sure she seemed to be slightly mean and could be rude, but underneath it all she seemed to me a really nice person. Heck, they might end up being friends, but normally Slytherins don't talk to people outside of their houses unless they have a lot of classes and don't mind being seen with them. Pansy seemed like the type of girl that is popular with the Slytherins because shes pretty and she can be mean to people. But who knows, maybe Kayley is wrong. She normally is with this sort of thing.
"Probably not, I'm a 6th year and I'm in Ravenclaw. I keep to myself except for guys" Kayley laughed a little at the end, "What about you?" she looked at Pansy with a small smile on her face.

"Well thank you anyway, I like your hair" Pansys added, she did rather like the girls flame red hair which she assumed was dyed as it was very very red, but it suited Kayley. Pansy was unsure what kind of girl she was, at first glance she appeared nerdy but she had bright hair and talked of guys which made Pansy think she was more outgoing than she let on. "Maybe we have had classes together? I'm sixth year too" Pansy nodded to herself, they more than likely had been in the same class at some point. Ravenclaw Pansy thought to her self, this was probably the first Ravenclaw she had ever talked to not at or about; all the rest were stuck up in her opinion.

"Thank you" Kayley said beaming. She was starting to like Pansy, she wasn't your everyday Slytherin. She was actually really nice.. well, to her anyways. She knew this friendship--if you can even call it that, might not last very long concidering they were very different. "I think we had Herbology and maybe Ancient Ruines? I don't know if you had that class or not" Kayley said smiling slightly.

Pansy was quite happy talking to Kayley maybe they could hang out sometimes, she was a Ravenclaw yes but a nice girl. Though they shouldn't probably been seen together, Pansy Parkinson had a reputation to uphold. "Maybe Herbology, Ancient Runes arn't really my thing" Pansy said with a small laugh. Pansy forgot herself for a moment with a quick decision "Maybe I could introduce you to me friends?" she asked, though she didnt really expect Kayley to want to, she was different to other girls, nicer, mature in some ways, other girls would jump at the chance to be part of their little group and follow them around like puppy dogs but Kayley was more like a real friend someone to talk to. In her experience slytherins like herself didnt have real friends like that.

"Yeah, probably Herbology. Don't take Ancient Runes, it's intertesting and all.. but not worth the hard work" Kayley laughed slightly and folded her hands in her lap. When offered to meet Pansy's friends Kayley didn't really know what to say. She knows Slytherin girls, they're catty, mean, vicious, and start rumors. But her friends could be different because Pansy isn't any of those things. Kayley thought for a moment and then she finally answered, "Okay.. sure" with a smile. Kayley had an idea of what she got herself into, but theyu couldn't be that mean.. could they? They had to be better than Cho who just acted nice infront of guys but always giggled and were immature. Kayley smiled at Pansy and her mind still going a mile a minute.

"I hate studding really its not my thing, thanks for the warning" She said with a laugh and a nod, Kayley deffinatly seemed to be your average Ravenclaw, ancient runes was deffinatly a bookwormy subject, but Pansy still liked her, which was unusual admittedly but she was different to the likes of that Chang girl who giggled constantly which Pansy found very irritating. "I'm glad you do, I mean I know us Slytherin girls have a reputation but we arnt all bad, promise" Pansy said with a small laugh, it was true they all had harsh exteriors but her friends were nice inside and she knew they could be if they wanted to be.

"It can get get boring" Kayley said nodding. Personally, Kayley loved to study. She really loved learning things and reading new books. But, then again, thats why she was in Ravenclaw. She loved learning and she was very witty. Kayley sighed happily when Pansy said they weren't that bad. "Thank god" she said smiling. She normally got teased by Slytherins in her classes and in the hall, but they were mostly by boys and some girls. But the girls who teased Kayley were quite ugly, so Pansy wasn't friends with them, thats for sure.
