It was a warm day when Faith decided to write a letter to her family. She wished to tell them how she was doing and what sort of grades she was getting. She figured her mother would gush over it for days until she would actually write back and tell her how much she loves her. Faith finished the letter and gave it to one of the barn owls she always uses. She fed him an owl treat before his departure and watched him fly into the sky, he looked so free and innocent. If only she could feel the same.
Faith leaned againt an opening that looked like a window and looked outside. She was wearing her uniform still because she just got out of double potions. The nightmare. She hated potions with all of her heart; it wasn't the teacher it wad just the dungeons and how hard it was. She never could get a potion perfectly correct, not in all of her six years--going on seven--of schooling.
Faith just looked outside and noticed how beautiful this place really was, she always knew it, but everything was perfect; the blue sky, the white puffy clouds, and slight breeze. Everything. She soaked it all in and never wanted this beauty to fade. Moments like these are timeless.

Ali took the stairs up to the Owlery very quickly, her Hufflepuff robes dragging on the ground behind her, -she made a mental note to have them shortened as soon as she could- She promised to send word to her dad every month, just letting him know every thing was alright and she was still alive. He never really wrote back, he'd just send money, or a small note saying "Good to hear", Ali had come to expect that by this point.
She knew where her Snowy Owl called home, it was toward the left of the entrance to the Owlery, Not to far from the door. Starlet had proved a faithful owl throughout the years and Ali loved the white, perky beast. She loved all animals.
Ali wasn't expecting to see anyone up there. The weather was nice outside and she suspected all the students were out enjoying it, something she'd be doing as soon as she finished here. But to her surprise, a girl stood looking at the grounds below, she startled Ali and made her jump a bit. "Gosh," she whispered, "Sorry, didn't expect to see anyone up here." The Hufflepuff said out loud as she walked toward her majestic owl.

Faith looked at the landscape still and wondered what it was like back at home, she figured that her sister was causing chaos with her parents, she never did show them much respect for some reason. Her parents were great, it made her very upset that their own daughter would treat them with so little respect like that.
Faith herd somebody speak and she jumped her self and turned to look at her. Faith smiled at her and fully turned her body around so she was facing her. She looked at the girl; she was wearing Hufflepuff robes. She knew she'd seen her around, but she didn't kow her name. Maybe she was in a year below her.
"Oh, no it's fine, sorry that I scared you" Faith said, blushing. She was never good at talking to new people, "Hey, what year are you in? I mean, I'm a Huffepuff too"
Faith smiled at her and decided to write another letter to her Grandmother; she birthday was coming up. She grabbed a peice of paper and jodded down a quick note saying happy birthday and how she loves her. She walked over to an owl and tried to tie it on her leg with no luck. She was using the black owl that hated her.

Ali looked the girl over, She looked familiar, but Ali couldn't pin a name on the face. She wasn't really good with names. "Yeah, I'm obviously," Ali looked down at her robes, "A Hufflepuff, I'm year 6." She gave a small laugh and tied the letter onto Starlets leg, giving the beautiful owl a treat before sending her off on her way.
Ali couldn't help but notice the girl having a hard time with a black school owl. Ali never liked using school owls for this reason exactly. She stuck her hand in her robe pocket where she had a few more owl treats she kept for Starlet, in case she demanded more. Taking one out she took it over to the black owl and slowly let him have it, whispering "Softly..." to the creature. The owl slowly calmed down after eating the treat and allowed the letter to be tied to it's leg. "These school owls don't much like us students, do they?" She laughed, stroking his beak.

Faith smiled at her. "Well, I'm a Hufflepuff as well" Faith said, gesturing at her uniform, "I'm a seventh year, I think I've seen you around the common rooms and what-not" Faith smiled at her. "Oh, where are my manners? My name is Faith Middleton" Faith said grinning at her.
"Wow, you're really good at this, thanks. I owe you one" Faith said as she watched the owl eat the treat and calm down. "Yeah, they don't like us, they're like Filch in bird form" Faith said laughing.

Ali nodded and gave a chuckle at Faiths comment,"Agreed!" She laughed. "My name's Ali, I think I've seen you around too, I can't believe we're just meeting for the first time, what kind of House Mates are we?" She joked.
"It's really nice today." Ali smiled, looking out the window the black school owl had left from. "Sunny, warm." She added. Ali didn't care what the weather was like, she just loved being outside. "Sorry, I must be keeping you..." She realized now that both of their owls were gone, Faith probably had somewhere else to be.

Faith giggled at Ali, she was completely right. "Yeah, I have no idea. I mean, we have over a hundred people in our house, don't we? It's likely that we wouldn't meet I guess. Let's just not tell Helga Hufflepuff, I don't think she'd be too proud" Faith said laughing.
"Gorgeous" Faith said looking out the window. "Oh no, you're not keeping me at all! I have an Astronomy lesson, but thats not until it gets dark out" Faith said blushing, "unless you have somewhere else to be"
Faith haded how she always blushed, even around girls. It was quite annoying. She was just so shy around others who weren't in her house. It wasn't that she lacked self-confindence, she was confident in herself, but she just wasn't good around people.

"Helga would not think to highly of us, that's for sure." She agreed, giving a giggle. Ali was always so proud to be a Hufflepuff, like her dad. But she really hadn't ever given any though to the House Founder.
"No." Ali sighed. "I've got no where else either." It felt weird to say, Ali having no plans. She always used to have something to do. "Hey, I hope I'm not being to forward by this, But seeing as neither of us have plans...want to do something?" She was never really afraid of taking risks like this and asking people to hang out. She only feared that they would say no.

"No she would not. At least we're 'just' and 'loyal' whatever just means. I find it kind of annoying when people ask us what a Hufflepuff is, I mean, we don't ask what a Slytherin is, or a Ravenclaw" Faith ranted slightly. It just annoyed her how annoying some people could be.
Fiath smiled at Ali, it was nice to see someone else not having any plans either. Well, not nice, but it made her feel a bit better. "Ah, yeah, sure! I mean, I normally date someone a little more.. manly" Faith joked, "Nah, I'm kidding. We can hang out, whatcha want to do?" she smiled at her and picked up all her belongings and shoved them in her back and put her bag in her pocket. "It's Moleskin--I can hide nearly anything in there. My grandfather gave it to me" she said, just incase the girl would ask questions.

"Yeah, I know, people ask what a Hufflepuff is becasue they just don't understand how much more amazing and awesomer then them we are." Ali laughed, biting her tounge a bit. She loved being a Hufflepuff.
"Well you're not exactally my type either." Ali gave a fake sigh and a shoulder shrug. She giggled, just joking. "I don't know. Is it just me, or has Hogwarts gotten a little boring lately?" She hadn't been seeing as much excitement around school as she normally did. "It's a nice little bag," she nodded. "Sounds like it's good to have around."

"I wouldn't say that exactly" Faith said modestly. She loved being a Hufflepuff, but she gets picked on a lot. She never knew why, because they're just as good as any other house. But it doesn't matter, they had Cedric Diggory before he died. Faith missed him, they were good friends.
"Well gosh!" Faith said laughing, "Yeah, it's gotton very.. bland lately. I think we should shake things up and make it more fun around here. You in to cause some major chaos?"

"I'm glad to be a Hufflepuff." Ali said. "We're the underdogs," Ali missed Cedric as well. They weren't best friends, bu good ones if not a little better. She spent all summer and a majority of her 5th year crying.
"You think like a Weasley." She laughed. "Sounds fun, I'm up for just about anything!" Ali was always willing to try new things, take risks. What fun was life with out it?

"Yeah we are, but really we're pretty good at quidditch, and we're poliet" Faith said grinning. She loved being a Hufflepuff, but she wished they somehow got respect. Cedric was their only hope and he got killed by Voldemort. It was a shame.
"Well, you know" Faith blushed slightly, she always had a major crush on Fred Weasley but never got the courage to talk to him. She rememberd her dorm-mates laughing at her because she would talk about him in her sleep. He was only a year older than her, but he was dating Angelina Johnson, and he'd never like a girl like her.. she was still in school. "Okay, so what are you up to do?" she asked rubbing her hands together.
