THE VANISHING GLASS
Cody is pronounced KO-dee. It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and the meaning of Cody is "helper"
Nathan is pronounced NAY-than. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Nathan is "God has given"
And his last name, James is a patronymic name derived from "Jacob" and usually meaning "son of Jacob." In English, Jacob and James are distinctly separate names, but throughout the rest of the world, the two are often used interchangeably.
Cody & Nathan were his father's names, and his mother thought it right to name him after his dad. Cody isn't particularly fond of his name, but he honestly really couldn't think of anything else better to call himself besides that.
NICKNAMES: He doesn't have any nicknames, really, besides Jr. by his family (Obviously, if he's named after his father) and Codykins by his sister, but he doesn't really count that considering his sister just calls him that to annoy him.

MIRROR OF ERISED: To raise enough money by whatever means to help his mother (Why his mother is in St. Mungos is in the History.). He wants this because he wants his mother back so he doesn't have to live with his aunt anymore. He will do just about anything to acomplish this, he is even getting singing lessons to see if he can become a singer.
DEMENTOR: His worst memory is of being dangled out of the window of the owlery by a fellow student in his second year. He was sure the student didn’t mean to, but it was still very terrifying.
BOGGART: While it changes from time to time the general theme of August’s boggart stays the same. He is terrified of horror films and so his boggart always takes the form of whatever monstrous creature August has managed to glimpse in the latest adverts at the cinema.
AMORENTIA: Cinnimon toast, his fave food.
Wet paint, one of the reasons he loves art so much
Freshly cut grass, he just loves the smell of it.
PATRONUS: His patronus is a dog. Specifically a mutt with one ear turned inside out, it’s fur a patchwork of colours and it‘s tail wagging constantly. While the dog appears alert and willing to jump (or tumble) into action, there is no doubt it’s a mongrel. The memory Cody uses to conjure it is of sitting in front of the fire in his living room with his father telling him a story.

OVERALL PERSONALITY: Friendly - Cody always has time for a smile and a quick chat with whoever he bumps into (literally). He doesn’t see the harm in being nice to people he doesn’t know, and once he does know them he doesn’t stop being nice as he then counts them as friends.
Enthusiastic - He has an almost childlike interest in everything. If somebody is willing to put aside the time to explain something he’ll listen attentively. While he isn’t much for research or reading if you catch his attention about a topic you’ll probably manage to keep it with minimum effort.
Easygoing - Cody doesn’t see the need to get wound up about obstacles, he has the patience to wait and work his way round a problem with minimum effort. He rarely kicks up a fuss about anything and is quite happy to let other people take the lead while he follows instructions as best he can.
Confident - Cody isn’t afraid to speak up or try new things even if he’ll probably fail miserably. He feels he knows his limits and can trust other people enough, which gives him the confidence to do things others might consider risky.
Positive - He is a glass half full kind of guy, in other words unerringly optimistic. He’ll always point out the good traits about a person or situation and he tends to gloss over the negatives. This doesn’t mean he thinks the world is entirely made of sunshine and rainbows, but he doesn’t think it hurts to look out for them.
Clumsy - Cody is about as graceful as a drunken hedgehog trying to fight it’s way out of a sack. He trips over chair legs, stairs and even his own feet all the time. Asking him to carry something delicate is a disaster waiting to happen and don’t expect him to catch or throw anything with any degree of accuracy. He’s been practically banned from riding broomsticks because he lacks the balance and ability needed to fly in a straight line let alone complete any manoeuvres.
Too Trusting - It’s very easy to gain Cody’s trust. In fact you don’t even really have to do anything, just hang around him long enough to count you as a friend, which takes a surprisingly short amount of time. His trust is almost too easily given and he’s been betrayed because of this before. This doesn’t stop him from befriending them again as he’s a great believer in second, and even third, chances.
Oblivious - Codykind of sheltered, or rather he shelters himself by refusing to take anything seriously. He doesn’t really keep up with current tensions within the wizarding community, which some people might call foolishly ignorant. He’s also a little oblivious to more subtle emotions in people, he won’t pick up if somebody is upset or angry until it’s too late and they’re crying or shouting.
Irresponsible - He’s responsibility phobic and really doesn’t like it when people have to rely on him to do something. He likes to be carefree and have the freedom to do what he wants so he tries hard to avoid responsibility of any kind.

Cody doesn't have a perfect relationship with his sister, but what siblings do?
HISTORY: Cody James JR was second born to Ashley James (Nee Sykes) and Cody James SR on August 16th 1983. He was clumsy even as a young child and so he ended up in the emergency room at the hospital more times than most people end up there in their entire lifetime. Most of the time it wasn’t too serious though, a few stitches or a cast and he’d bounce back to enthusiastically exploring anything and everything.
When Cody was six, his father went M.I.A, causing a lot of stress in the family and also putting Cody's mother into depression which slowly slipped into something more as she was put into St. Mungos and Cody and Cynthia were sent to live with their Aunt, Cousins (whom he wasn't that fond of to start with.) and grandparents.
His grandparents on his mother’s side were a big part of his childhood and Cody would spend a lot of time staying with them in the summer months. In particular his grandfather was his hero and so he was immensely proud of being named after him and his father. He took great delight in the magic tricks his grandfather showed him. It wasn’t until later, when he got his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, that he realised these magic tricks were real.
Cody hadn’t really shown all that much magical ability before, although there are only so many trees a person can fall out of with barely a scratch before it gets a little suspicious.
Everything about Hogwarts was new and exciting for Cody and he threw himself into life there with complete enthusiasm. Becoming a wizard brought him even closer to his grandfather, he was somebody he could turn to when he felt lost or confused about anything magical. Even after over 3 years of living in the wizarding world Cody’s enthusiasm still hasn’t worn off and it doesn’t even look like it’s faded.[/size][/ul]
