Fresh, emerald green pastures the strech for miles lay within a seven hundred acre ranch with another 2100 acres of range located on the outskirts of a quiet town known as Rockford in Alberta, Canada. All the fences are made from tree's that once filled some of the fields and were stained to hold that rich, freshly peeled look to them. The gates are large enough for two trucks to fit through leading from one field to the other. The drive way takes about three and a half minutes to drive down, winding down to the main barn, the road a bright sand colour. Smaller paddocks are found along the driveway on both sides of the road, made for the stallions, horses that can't be on too much grass, and those that are used often enough that don't need to go out onto acres of pasture. There are about thirty pastures that are occupied daily with a range of different colour of horses that always greet out guests and boarders.
Our barn holds the home of just about 200 stalls of horses. The barn is still under renovation, but is made out of fresh wood that is stained into a light honey colour. Ebony bars are around the top half of the stalls, each stall has their own automatic waters, air conditioning for summer and heaters in the winter. We have grooms that feed horses, move horses and also that clean their stalls every day. Many of the show horses are kept in the barn during the day while the ranch horses, yearlings, and broodmares are out in paddocks and pastures. In the night, they switch and the show horse's are put outside as long as the weather is reasonable. Our barn supplies eight wash stalls and boarders can either tie their horse to their stall, or go outside, where it's closer to the tack department and tie their horse's there.
There is the indoor arena, that has the steel portable fences on the outside of the arena in the back part, able to hold ten horses in quarantine or for horse's that may have an illness that could spread easily. The pens are also there to hold young steer for boarder to practice roping, penning or cutting. The indoor arena is equipped with good decent sand flooring that is a bit on the deeper side for those that enjoy doing sliding stops and barrels. For in the summer, it has a air conditioner and in the winter it is equipped with a heater. The sand is hosed down twice a day to keep dust down and there are also fans to help dust stay down to make it most comfortable for the horse and rider.
The outdoor riding arena is about two acres, and it is basically a hay field that is fenced, with sand flooring and roping chutes. The arena has a little storage building that supplies barrels, poles, pylons, and other markers that could help with your riding. Many enjoy working their horse's in this huge section because they have a beautiful view of the pastures, the rocky mountains and more. Solo also offers the round pen to help break young horses, or just a place for you and your horse to bond and connect stronger. We also have a number of trails that boarders can explore, and there are always new ones to be found.
